There are certain times in a month or six months that we suddenly feel weak and distressed. We are tired for no apparent reason and we become exhausted just by doing simple daily activities like talking and eating. I think you must have guessed by now that there's something wrong with the body and you are suffering from an illness or disease. Well there are more than a million types of diseases and disorders in this world and it becomes difficult to know what is wrong with us until we meet our physician. In this article we make a list of common diseases which affect mankind, because often we don't care to gather information about the illness we suffer. I am not saying it is extremely essential, it is just when you have knowledge of whom you're dealing with it becomes easy to deal with it.
List of Most Common Diseases
When you think of diseases affecting humans, you would obviously include infectious diseases, STDs, rare skin diseases etc. As I said before it is very necessary to have basic knowledge about the most common diseases affecting our generation. So that even we can keep up some preventive measures to avoid them.
Cholera
Cholera is a disease that kills more than 1 million people every year. It spreads mostly due to unclean drinking water and unhygienic sanitary conditions. It's the leading cause of death in Russia, Africa and Indian subcontinent. It's caused by the virus Vibrio cholera, which is the main reason for infection of stomach intestines. People affected with cholera develop symptoms like vomiting, stomach and leg cramps. In severe cases cholera can also cause death due to dehydration.
Pneumonia
If you ever thought of making a list of infectious diseases, the name pneumonia would definitely comes in the first five places. The infection of lungs is called pneumonia. This feeling of inflammation of the lungs is caused by a viral infection. Blood tests or chest X rays are two ideal ways of knowing that a person is suffering from pneumonia. In some cases even severe cold or dry cough also causes pneumonia.
Strep Throat
Another common disease affecting humans in large number is strep throat. A streptococcus bacterium is the bacterium that causes strep throat. More than 3 million cases of strep throat are reported alone in the US. Symptoms include sore fatigue, nausea, headache, and high fever.
Cancer
One of the most dangerous diseases caused by smoking is cancer. Affecting more than 9 million people every year, cancer is a leading cause of death in the United States. Smokers are at a higher risk of getting cancer. The tobacco present in the cigarette causes cancer of the lungs, mouth and throat. Smoking can also cause many types of cancer such as throat cancer and lung cancer.
Measles
Nowadays we don't hear the name measles much, probably because it has been eradicated in most of the countries where the vaccine is available. However, it's still very common in some developing economies where if not treated soon leads to death. Measles symptoms include high fever, coughing, skin rash and in worst cases diarrhea.
Aids
When you hear about aids, you just know one thing there's no escape from this one. Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) one of the most dreaded sexually transmitted diseases. It makes the immune system weak so that it cannot fight infections caused due to aids. Identified in the 1980s' aids has since killed more than 25 million people. Aids is caused by the HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) which causes various infections to the body and ultimately leads to death.
Tuberculosis
Considered as one of the most dreaded contagious diseases in the world, tuberculosis causes nearly 2 million deaths every year. The TB bacteria are found in the lungs which cause pain in lungs, chest and bloody mucus. According to latest reports by the WHO, more than a billion people will be affected by tuberculosis between 2000 and 2020.
